Classification of mammary neoplasms in dogs

Classification of mammary neoplasms in dogs

Deutsche Tierärztliche Wochenschrift 65: 458-461

In the 3-year period, 1955-57, 300 mammary tumours from dogs were examined at Munich, as well as 4 from cats (all adenocarcinomas) and one from a mare (fibrosarcoma). Of the 300 canine tumours, 127 were classified as mixed (72 being histologically malignant, 3 showing metastases), 144 as epithelial tumours (100 malignant, 15 with metastases), 56 as mesenchymal (49 malignant, 4 with metastases), one as a cystic tumour, and 2 (or 3) as tumours in, but not of, the mammary gland.
