Cold-stored plants allow summer planting

Cold-stored plants allow summer planting

Grower 53: 402-3

A continuation of the article recorded in H.A., 30: 1806. After cold storage strawberry plants must be allowed to thaw out for 24 hours before planting. A spacing of 9-10 in. between plants with 3 ft. between rows has proved satisfactory for Scottish conditions. With summer planting the roots must be prevented from drying out, but with care a 95% stand has been obtained. Earliness of planting is advised, since the size of the following year's crop increases as the time of planting is advanced.
