Combining ability in diploid, triploid, and tetraploid sugar beet monogerm male-sterile hybrids

Tetraploid counterparts of the following 2x sugar beets were induced by the colchicine technique: (1) one monogerm self-sterile population (SLC15 mm); (2) three multigerm self-fertile varieties (US35/2, US401 and US104); (3) a self-sterile monogerm inbred line (SLC91 mm); and (4) the male-sterile equivalent (SLC91 mm MS) of (3).
