The larvae of P. vorax cause considerable damage to Solanum potatoes in the major production areas at 3000-3600m alt. In trials in Chimborazo province, aldrin, dieldrin and heptachlor were applied at 5 lb and 7.5 lb technical material/ac (a) in the furrow before planting and (b) broadcast over the plot and worked into the surface before planting.
