Abstract
In an old-field plantation of Pinus elliottii, cultivation and light application of NPK fertilizer during each of the first three growing seasons resulted in an apparent, but not significant, increase in pulpwood volume of ca. 10% after 19 growing seasons. There was, however, a significant increase in the number of trees with stem cankers of Cronartium fusiforme.
