Cytotaxonomical studies on Vicia cracca L. and V.tenuifolia Roth. II. Meiosis

Cytotaxonomical studies on Vicia cracca L. and V.tenuifolia Roth. II. Meiosis

Hereditas, Lund, 48: 390-408

Meiosis was investigated in a number of lines of V. cracca (2n = 12, 14, 28) and V. tenuifolia (2n = 24). The low frequency of multivalents in the tetraploids may be due to disassociation of pachytene quadrivalents through a reduced chiasma frequency, or to preferential pairing, although a high frequency of univalents shows that this is not the only way of pairing.
