On a loam of pH KCl 4.3, 15 kan (NH4)2SO4, 19 kan super and 6 kan KCl per tan (1 kan = 3.75 kg; 1 tan=0.24 acre) increased the dominance and fresh weight of Agrostis when applied in April, but not when applied in May-July. These increases were accompanied by suppression of Pteridium aquilinum. The dominance of Lactuca dentata and 9 late-flowering species was not affected by April applications.
