Yield trials with two " strains" of pampas grass are recorded. The heaviest yield was obtained from cutting in alternate years but the quality of the grass was low. Cutting twice a year over a number of years weakens the plant which will not tolerate frequent defoliation; grazing once a year is recommended to maintain high yield and persistence. Summer harvesting (January) gave the highest yields under the system of annual cuttings.
