A number of insecticides and herbicides were applied at a series of dosages to 1) soil infested to various degrees with Helminthosporium sativum and 2) to culture solutions of H. sativum. DCU 0.62-10 p.p.m., sodium isopropyl xanthate 0.62-10 p.p.m., propham 0.25-4 p.p.m., and TCA 0.06-10 p.p.m. had no affect on host or disease development. MH 0.06-1 p.p.m. stimulated seedling growth but increased the severity of infection.
