Laying hens were given a ration with 2 % paprika for 9 weeks. The vitamin A content of eggs was doubled and egg production rose by 55% compared with controls. It is suggested that the carotene in paprika, or the vitamin A formed from it, affects the activity of the ovaries. It is concluded that paprika is a good source of vitamins in the winter feed of poultry. (From German summary.) R.
