After P8OS had been applied systematically in various forms and at various rates over a period of 17 years to an 8-course rotation on previously unfertilized sod-podzolic soil, the reserves of available P2O5 in the soil were determined by pot experiments with oats. Small amounts of P32 were applied to the oats and the available-P reserve was calculated from the percentage utilization of the P32 and the P removed by the crop.
