Field and laboratory experiments were conducted to test the efficacy of two chitin synthesis inhibiting insecticides, viz. lufenuron 5 EC (400, 500 and 600 ml/ha) and diflubenzuron 25 WP (300, 350 and 400 g/ha), against green semilooper (Chrysodeixis acuta) under field conditions and against tobacco caterpillar (Spodoptera litura) under controlled laboratory conditions. The field experiment was conducted during the kharif seasons of 2001 and 2002 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India.
