This paper presents the results and conclusions from field trials with 30 varieties of hybrid maize carried out during 1948-54. The amount of seed sown should be adjusted to the soil and climate; 75-125 kg/ha is normal. The most suitable time for sowing is immediately after the sowing of small grains. The use of herbicides is recommended only on fields which are badly infested with weeds. Manurial trials indicate that large dressings of P and N are required.
