For part 1 see Abst. 331, Vol. 22. 4. Two Jersey cows which had been fed normally on pasture were brought indoors and fed for 11 days on a carotene-free diet of linseed meal, crushed oats and bran with straw as roughage, and then returned to pasture. Samples of milk and blood were taken daily from 4 days before the cows were brought indoors until 6 days after they returned to pasture, and vitamin A ester and alcohol, carotene and xanthophyll were estimated.
