Studies show that in parts of Hungary having a humid climate, it is desirable to maintain, in addition to an accumulation of litter, a low C/N ratio for its rapid decomposition, for which the amount of Ca present is generally decisive: in moderately humid climates, the emphasis is on the accumulation of litter, and a high C/N ratio works favourably, Ca playing here only a modest role.
