Genetic variation in progeny tests of Scots Pine (Pinus silvestris L.)

Genetic variation in progeny tests of Scots Pine (Pinus silvestris L.)

Studia for. suec, 10: 135

Tree height differences were thought the cause of the <5% infection by Melampsora pinitorqua in 1960-61 when the pines were 10-11 yr. old, compared with 1-94% infected in 1958-59, as measured by the yellow spore masses on annual shoots. A 2nd factor was distance from infection sources, infection being heaviest where stands bordered on aspens.
