Group composition of humus in soils of a series which has undergone steppe formation in the western Caspian.

The humus in meadow solonchakous soils, meadow solonchakous soils undergoing steppe formation and pale chestnut solonetsic solonchakous soils was mobile and mobility increased with increasing steppe formation. The humus contained large amounts of fulvic acid and the proportion of fulvic acids increased with increasing steppe formation. Fractions combined with Ca predominated in the humic and fulvic acids.
