A late Manchurian form grown under 10-hr. days for 2-3 weeks after emergence and then grown in natural days at Tulun gave an early F1 in which the grain ripened. A repetition of the photoperiodic treatment in the F2 and F3 did not improve earliness and a high percentage of malformed plants arose.
