Growth and management studies on Sabi panicum and star grass

Seasonal shoot growth, seasonal changes in the weights and carbohydrate-reserve content of the underground parts, and in the crude-protein content of the shoots and underground parts, were studied in Panicum maximum var. Sabi during 1957-8 and Cynodon plectostachyus var. No. 2 during the 1958-9 growing season. The growth rate of shoots of P. maximum was very rapid until late Jan. and thereafter declined.
