The uptake of P by rye seedlings in 16 hr was nil from culture solutions containing 1.5 x 10-3 mol thymohydroquinone as compared with 6.6 mg P from an untreated culture solution. The concentration of inorganic P in seedlings 48 hr after treatment was only a third of that in plants grown in culture solutions without the chemical.
