Immunity of mice to Eastern equine encephalomyelitis virus. IV. Active immunity. V. Passive immunity

Immunity of mice to Eastern equine encephalomyelitis virus. IV. Active immunity. V. Passive immunity

Z. ImmunForsch, 121: 343-364

On intracerebral challenge, Eastern equine encephalomyelitis virus multiplied in the c.n.s. of mice, in spite of active s/c immunization. Formation of local antibodies was slower than growth of virus. In some mice i/c challenge failed to produce clin, symptoms, in others it produced typical encephalomyelitis followed by either death or recovery, after an incubation period which was often shorter than in controls.
