Imported French parasite of walnut aphid established in California

Imported French parasite of walnut aphid established in California

Calif. Agric, Berkeley, Cal 14(11): 3-4

Trioxys pallidus Hal., which parasitises Chromaphis juglandicola (Kalt.) on walnut in southern France, was imported into California, propagated in the laboratory and liberated against this aphid in 1959. Recoveries were made within three weeks of release, and adults of the Braconid were collected in April 1960, indicating survival over the winter, which in France is passed in larval diapause. Further releases were made in 1960.
