Larval emergence from cysts of Heterodera schachtn was stimulated by a solution prepared by washing with distilled water seeds of sugar-beet which had germinated for four days. Seeds germinated for less time than this had not stimulatory effect, but seeds germinated for five days had an effect approaching that of beet diffusate. A. M.
