Progeny of different boars in Canada and Western Europe were compared on 3 different systems: feeding twice daily with energy intake limited to 75% of the U.S. National Research Council recommendation (Abst. 4978, Vol. 30), or feeding to appetite 3 times daily or completely. The rates of liveweight gain ran parallel to feed allocation, as did the amount of meal required to produce unit increase in liveweight.
