Inheritance and relation of growth habit to other characters in spring x winter barley crosses



Abstracts of the Annual Meetings of the American Society of Agronomy held at Denver, Colorado, November 17-21 1963. 88-89



The spring varieties were aaBB, A ABB or aabb; the winter varieties were A Abb. Spring growth habit was dominant in all crosses except in a cross involving one of the aabb varieties, where winter habit was dominant. Spring x spring crosses involving this aabb variety gave F2s with 13 spring: 3 winter segregations or else no winter segregants at all. Winter survival was incompletely associated with winter growth habit.
