The term blackish pattern is suggested to replace mahogany. The symbols BpM and Bp are suggested to represent the genes responsible for blackish pattern and absence of blackish pattern, resp. The subscript M indicates the aliele exhibiting dominance in A gene frequency analysis of the data obtained in this study confirms that blackish pattern is a sex-influenced modifier of blackish.
