Inheritance of bract color in poinsettia

With respect to bract color, poinsettias with white bracts differ from normal red by a single completely recessive factor designated wh. All red-bracted commercial cultivars tested were homozygous WH and white cultivars homozygous wh. The commercial cultivars with pink bracts are genetically homozygous WH, confirming earlier reports of their periclinal chimeral make-up. No pink seedlings were found.
