Inheritance of leaf rust reaction among the eight differential wheat varieties

In most cases there appeared to be one gene for resistance to race 9 in each of the wheats studied, resistance being partially dominant. Mediterranean, Democrat and Pawnee probably carry the same gene for reaction to race 9. The results of the cross Red Chief x Pawnee show that the same factor governs resistance to races 9, 10, 11, 13, 19, 20, 31 and 93 and monosomic analysis indicates that it lies on chromosome X.
