Inheritance of milling quality in wheat

Milling quality was evaluated on the basis of bran weight, since it had been found that varieties poor in quality had a much greater increase in bran weight at high milling moisture than varieties having good quality. Using 5 g. samples, the mean bran weights of CI13253 (Norin 10 x Brevor 14), Burt (CI12696), the F1 of the cross between these two wheats, the F2, the back cross to CI13253 and the back cross to Burt were found to be 20.09, 16.57, 19.02, 19.10, 19.88 and 17.97 dg. respectively.
