Inheritance of reaction to Diplodia zeae Schw. Lev. in Zea mays L. ears

Inheritance of reaction to Diplodia zeae Schw. Lev. in Zea mays L. ears

Diss. Abstr, 17: Publ. 18,880, 12-13

In a study of all the single crosses possible among six inbreds, their F2 and the back crosses to both parents, data were collected on (1) degree of husk coverage, (2) time of ear declination and (3) amount of infection by D. zeae. Evidence of additive gene action was obtained with respect to percentage of ear rot but this action was marked by epistasis in single crosses involving inbreds differing widely in reaction.
