Inheritance of some characters in safflower (Carthamus tinctorius, Linn.)

Inheritance of some characters in safflower (Carthamus tinctorius, Linn.)

Nagpur agric. Coll. Mag, 32: 11

In investigations at the Agricultural Research Institute, Nagpur, India, two crosses between local varieties indicated dominance of (1) the spinous condition of the outer bracts of the capitulum over lack of spines, (2) lanceolate shape of the outer bracts over obovate to rounded and (3) smooth green inner bracts over "felted white". The three characters and floret colour are inherited independently.
