Inheritance of some of the more striking characters in rice

The inheritance of 19 characters of rice were studied in 10 crosses. A semi-dominant long-glume (Gl), blackleaf (lk), whitehull (Hw), yellowhull (Hwhg), a dwarf (dx) and long-lemmas (lmx) are new characters. Gl is independent of and epistatic to recessive long-glume (g). Hw is epistatic to strawhull (Hg), but with goldhull (hg) gives yellowhull. The five genes Gl, lk, Hw, dx, lmx, and the gene for neckleaf (nk) were tested for linkage relationships for the first time. Hw is linked with liguleless (lg) with 8% crossing over, and with an apiculus color gene (Apb ) with 36% crossing over.
