Inheritance of the composition of the glycoside mixture in D. purpurea

Inheritance of the composition of the glycoside mixture in D. purpurea

Pharm. Weekbl, 91: 942-51

In studies conducted at the Rijksuniversiteit, Groningen, Netherlands, three selfed lines of D. purpurea differing in botanical characters were found to differ in their constituent glycosides. Line 20, described as a digipurpurine type, contained digipurpurine constituting about one third of the total weight of gitoxin, together with small amounts of strospeside. The strospeside type, typified by line 15, contained large amounts of strospeside and no digipurpurine.
