Studies on the inheritance of 6 characters were carried out in 4 inter-varietal crosses of green gram. Purple red veins on the ventral suture in the unripe pod appeared to be dominant over absence of veins and dependent on a single pair of genes. The dominance black color of ripe pods over light orown pods seemed to be governed by a single pair of genes. The dominance of semi-spreading over-spreading and non-twining over-twining habit was found to be dependent upon a single pair of genes; considering both the factors together it was seen that they are segregating independently of each other in adihybrid ratio of 9:3:3:1. The dominance of dark green foliage color over light green was observed to be controlled monogenically. The dominance of purplish stem color over green stem was also found to be governed oy a single factor difference.
