Field reaction to Puccinia graminis var. tritici, studied in Pb.C518 x NP790 (resistant) and Pb.C273 x NP790, was controlled by three factor pairs, with susceptibility dominant. In each of the crosses E871 (Timstein derivative) x NP718, E871 x Pb.C281, E957 (Fronteira) x Pb.C518, Pb.C273 x NP790 and Pb.C518 x NP790, grass-clump habit depended upon three recessive genes.
