E871 carried a dominant factor for resistance to race 15. Both Rio Negro and Pb.C518 were susceptible to race 15. The ratio of 3 resistant: 13 susceptible plants in the F2 of the cross between these two wheats is interpreted by assuming that Rio Negro possessed a dominant gene for resistance and an inhibitor, and Pb.C518 the corresponding recessive alleles. E871 carried a dominant gene, and Rio Negro a recessive one, for resistance to race 21.
