Weanling mice of the A/Fn and C3H/Fn strains, which are highly susceptible to nutritionally induced obesity, the C57BL/Fn strain, which is moderately susceptible, and the I/Fn strain, which is resistant, were given a diet of casein 5, dextrin 85, salts 5 and maize oil 5 per cent. Food intake and weight gain were measured for 20 days. In one experiment an N-free supplement of sucrose 45, salts 5, maize oil 5 and hydrogenated vegetable oil 45 per cent. was offered to appetite.
