Inhibition and reactivation of bovine sperm stored at room temperatures

Inhibition and reactivation of bovine sperm stored at room temperatures

Anat. Rec, 131: 585

A series of metabolic studies performed on pooled samples of bovine spermatozoa maintained in a coconut milk-citrate-calcium carbonate medium indicated that an appreciable amount of metabolic activity could be restored by resuspending the lactic acid inhibited spermatozoa in fresh alkaline diluent at the end of 6 days' storage at 23 degrees -27 degrees C. Reactivation of metabolic activity without renewing the diluent was also accomplished by the addition of CaCO3.
