Inhibition and recovery of brain cholinesterase activity in house flies poisoned with organophosphate and carbamate compounds

The following is based almost entirely on the authors' abstract. Three carbamates, a sulphamate and 17 organophosphates were topically applied in acetone to female house-flies (Musca domestica L.) to determine the correlation between toxicity, symptoms and in vivo inhibition of brain-cholinesterase activity. The compounds were applied at the predetermined LD50, except for the sulphamate, of which a lower dosage was used.
