Inhibition by interferon of the growth of vaccinia virus in the rabbit skin

Inhibition by interferon of the growth of vaccinia virus in the rabbit skin

Lancet 2(7098): 324-325

Interferon prepared in rabbit kidney cells protected rabbits against i/d infection with vaccinia virus. Protection was complete when the interferon was given the day before large doses of virus. With smaller doses of virus, protection was obtained when interferon was given before or with the virus.
