Inhibition of interferon by an infection with parainfluenza virus type 3 (PIV-3)

Inhibition of interferon by an infection with parainfluenza virus type 3 (PIV-3)

Virology 20: 333-343

The auto-interference of Newcastle disease virus (NDV) in calf kidney cultures is inhibited by a previous infection with PIV-3. PIV-3 also enhances the reproduction of NDV in cultures persistently infected with the latter virus. This effect of PIV-3 appears to be associated with the infectious virus particles and to be due to an inhibition of the production and antiviral action of interferon.
