Inhibition of resin acid isomerization

Inhibition of resin acid isomerization

Industr. Engng. Chem, 50: 4, 619-20

It was found that the extent of isomerization of the levopimaric acid in Pine oleoresin could be controlled by adding an alkali, e.g. NaOH, Na2CO3 or KOH, to the crude oleoresin before it was processed into rosin. The amount of levopimaric acid in the resin increased with an increase in the % of acids neutralized.
