Interspecific hybrids between Jerusalem artichoke (H. tuberosus L.) and sunflower (H. annuus L.)

Interspecific hybrids between Jerusalem artichoke (H. tuberosus L.) and sunflower (H. annuus L.)

Hodowla Roslin Aklimatyz. Nasiennictwo. 7: 481-500

Wild and cultivated H. tuberosus material was crossed with fodder and oleaginous sunflowers. The perennial hybrids obtained were propagated sexually and vegetatively. Compared with cultivated H. tuberosus, they had more compact clusters of tubers, flowered earlier and produced more green matter; they were intermediate between the parents in seed and tuber yields.
