Intestinal absorption of amino acids. 1. The effect of vitamin B6 on the absorption of L-amino acids through the intestine

Intestinal absorption of amino acids. 1. The effect of vitamin B6 on the absorption of L-amino acids through the intestine

J. Biochem., Tokyo. 47: 124-130

Young rats weighing from 120 to 150 g. were fasted for 30 hr. and were then anaesthetised. The intestine from the jejunum to the ileocaecal junction was divided into 2 equal lengths in situ and each was connected to a circulating system which passed through it about 40 ml. Krebs Ringer bicarbonate buffer with glucose and the amino acid to be studied. Other studies were with sacs of intestine in vitro by the method of Crane and Wilson (Abst. 4781, Vol. 28) and methionine-35S.
