Investigation on the agent of phloem necrosis of Liberia Coffee in Surinam

Investigation on the agent of phloem necrosis of Liberia Coffee in Surinam

Surinaam. Landb 10(4): 152-156

This disease, first called ' root rot ' or ' wilting ', was later called phloem, necrosis because of the abnormal division and necrosis of the sieve tubes. The associated flagellate, Phytomonas leptovasorum, moves upward from the roots into the trunk; the tree dies in 3-4 weeks in acute cases, in 6-8 months in chronic cases, or intermediately.
