Investigation on weight and body development in young East Flemish herdbook heifers and bulls.

Investigations were carried out on weight gains and changes in 14 body measurements in 43 East Flemish heifers and 31 East Flemish bulls from birth to 18 and 12 mths. of age resp. Birth weight was 48.2 kg. in heifers v. 50.1 kg. in bull calves. In heifers, daily weight gains were 0.779 kg. from 1 day to 6 mths. of age, 0.640 kg. from 6 to 12 mths., 0.467 kg. from 12 to 18 mths., and 0.620 kg. from 1 day to 18 mths.
