Investigations on resistance to disease among species of the genus Avena. II. Resistance to physiologic races of Puccinia coronata avenae and Puccinia graminis avenae

Investigations on resistance to disease among species of the genus Avena. II. Resistance to physiologic races of Puccinia coronata avenae and Puccinia graminis avenae

Ann. appl. Biol, 44: 453-60

A collection of 53 samples representing both diploid and tetraploid species of Avena was tested under various conditions for reaction to three cultures of crown rust and two of stem rust. Resistance to all three crown rust races occurred only in two samples of the tetraploid A. strigosa ssp. barbata and only one of these was also resistant to the stem rust cultures.
