Investigations on the physiological causes of the resistance of potato leaves to potato blight (Ph. infestans de Bary). I. The characteristics of respiratory exchange in the leaves of two potato varieties

Investigations on the physiological causes of the resistance of potato leaves to potato blight (Ph. infestans de Bary). I. The characteristics of respiratory exchange in the leaves of two potato varieties

Poznan. Towarz. Przyjaciol Nauk Wydzial roln. lenn. Prace Kom. Nauk roln. lesn, 7: 6, 27

Only young leaves of the blight-resistant variety Epoka were sensitive to the respiratory inhibitors KCN, NaF and malachite green, while in the susceptible variety Katahdin leaves at all stages of development were more or less sensitive to all three inhibitors. Both varieties reacted similarly to diethyldithiocarbamate and thiourea and both showed similar changes in peroxidase activity during development.
