In trials with the vinifera variety Tempranillo de Rioja on Rupestris du Lot equally good results were obtained with manual whip-and-tongue grafting and grafting by the "Mendocino modificado" and "Instituto" methods in which the cuts were made with an electric circular saw operating at 3, 000 r.p.m.
