For part 1 see Abst. 3274, Vol. 29. 3. Intake and excretion of Ca, P, Na, K and water by cows receiving either winter stall diets or cut grass in the stall were estimated. A narrow Ca: P ratio and a low alkalinity uptake from alkaline earth was seen with cows on early cut grass. Despite a variable intake of Na on the different diets no sign of deficiency was seen except in cows on an early cut of cocksfoot and ryegrass.
